Dear TA family:
I returned from Montgomery late Saturday night on May 3 rd after watching and cheering on our Lady Knight Softball Team as they won their fourth straight AISA State Championship. Needless to say it was a delight to watch a group of girls do what no other group of TA girls has ever done before. You must realize that despite remarkable talent, great coaching and strong senior leadership, four straight titles is something rare indeed, at any level. I suspect Coach Bryant, Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods would agree. The only way we will see this topped anytime soon is if Billy and his girls repeat again next year. TA is filled with bright, talented and committed young people with great heart. They are blessed with coaches and teachers of exceptional talent and devotion. It could happen sooner than you might think.
The high point for the weekend for me and the amazing entourage of parents, faculty and friends who have supported and followed this great team all over the southeast was what happened after the last pitch. The smiles, the laughter, the tears, the hugs and the complete euphoria of final victory gave us all a feeling like nothing else. They knew they were champions and not just for a day or a year but forever. What a feeling!
There have been many similar moments this year. There are many athletic and academic competitions ahead for the Knights of TA. Let's continue to practice hard, study hard, make sacrifices, show the courage and determination necessary to be champions and seize that feeling again and again. Moreover, let's do it the way our Four Time State Champions did it, the right way with sportsmanship, integrity, and class for that is the TA “way.” I couldn't be prouder or more grateful to have the privilege of leading our fine school. May God continue to bless TA.
